As many of us finish our first full week (wow) of social-distancing we may begin to feel a little overwhelmed with the uncertainty of just how long this current state will continue to be our reality. Instead of falling susceptible to negative emotions, I encourage you to remember that being alone and being lonely are two totally separate concepts. Personally, I have been a little excited about this period of “alone” time, as there are so many books on my shelf that I’ve been waiting to dig into. Whether you’re an avid reader or its been years since you’ve opened a book, now is an excellent time to slow down, take an internal inventory, and truly invest in yourself. Remember the books you read and the knowledge you gain can never be taken away from you. So let’s use this time to level-up, Queen.
Below I’m going to provide a list of some books that have sincerely changed my life and each one can be ordered on Amazon. As I go through any book, I keep a highlighter handy to go over the messages that resonate with me - I encourage you to do the same.
The Untethered Soul - Michael A. Singer
To this date, this is hands-down the best book I have ever picked up. It begins by walking you through your relationship with your thoughts and emotions, helping you to uncover what’s really going on with your internal energy. It then delves into what you can do to free yourself from habitual thoughts, emotions, and energy patterns that limit the expansion of your consciousness.
I think this book is an absolute ‘must’ for all women, as we are prone to be ruled by our emotions - don’t get me wrong, I think that’s one of our most beautiful qualities - BUT this gives us a chance to truly understand how to harness those emotions and create a powerful, divine, internal source. Sign me up.
You are a Badass - Jen Sincero
If you’re new to “self-help” books, this book is a wonderful place to cut your teeth. It’s an easy read, but still packs in a ton of insightful information that will get you off to a great start; she’s lowkey hilarious too. This book literally gives you a play-by-play on how to stop doubting your greatness (Ahem, Women!). We are truly such wonderful beings, and my hope is that every single one of us starts walking with your head high, our chin up, and our chest out. Let this book help you to see what you’re really made of!
You are a Badass at Making Money - Jen Sincero
Much like the original, this book helps you get the fck over your doubts, fears, and excuses, but this time it focuses specifically on money. If you understand money or have ever had a conversation with someone who understands money (like really, actually understands money) then you know wealthy is a mindset. Truly wealthy people understand that ‘rich’ is a mindset. This book will help you master that mindset and tap into your natural ability to grow rich.
The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho
A hands-down classic. The coolest part about this book is every single time you read it, its an entirely different book. This book is so simple, yet every time I come back to it I see entirely new messages and clues about life. I’ve made a pact with myself to re-read it every time I enter a new chapter in my life because I know I will find a hidden message about what is to come. This book helps you to realize how important it is that we earnestly seek out our life’s destiny no matter what our current circumstances look like.
The Power of Now - Eckhart Tolle
Eckhart Tolle is truly one of my favorite human beings and each of his works has personally brought me so much understanding and peace. This book is a wonderful place to start if you are interested in unlocking internal peace and the major keys to leading a full and joyful life. To make the journey into the Now you will need to leave your analytical mind and its false created self, the ego, behind. This book will take you to a higher altitude where you breathe easier and become more connected to the indestructible essence of your Being.
A New Earth - Eckhart Tolle
Crazy world we’re living in right now, eh? Yeah, Eckhart literally predicted the whole thing in this book. In this book Eckhart shows us how evolving past our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. He describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows us how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.
